RC Circuit

What is an RC circuit, and an example of its application?

Expand Hint
An RC circuit is a circuit that contains both a resistor (R) and a capacitor (C), and may be driven by a voltage or current source (each producing a different response). The simplest RC circuit (first order) contains only one resistor and one charged capacitor, connected in a loop. A capacitor stores energy, while a resistor placed in series with a capacitor will control the charge/discharge rates. They are typically used for controlling timing (i.e. blinking lights, windshield wipers etc).
An RC circuit is a resistor-capacitor circuit. They are typically used for controlling timing (i.e. blinking lights, windshield wipers etc).
